I recently started playing around with the idea of learning 2d game making in my spare time. However, while I want to learn Java, I don't have the knowledge to be able to start programming games yet (or much else for that matter) so I've started using a free game creating tool called Construct 2 . I've spent the past couple of hours tinkering around and working through a tutorial for beginners, and it seems pretty intuitive but still manages to have plenty of flexibility. Here is a screenshot of the workspace:
Since all of the games can run in HTML 5, they will work on virtually any system that has an up-to-date web browser (along with Windows 8 apps and select mobile OS's). I haven't found a way to embed the simple game I created into blogger yet, but I'm going to do some more digging to see if I can discover a way to do this. However, here are a couple screen-captures of the game running in the Chrome browser:

And after I died...

It's not much, but it's a start. I'm hoping to have the time to continue to poke around and tinker with Construct 2 this weekend and in the coming months. Well, I guess it's time to turn in. Have a safe weekend and God bless!

Hello, I am the Writer, and welcome to my new blog. I'm not completely sure what I will be writing about, but I hope that it will come with experience and time. I have seen other blogs and thought that it would be fun to try blogging myself. However, I will probably steer away from any kind of "Dear Diary" journal because I think that it would not only be boring, but I don't think of myself as a good giver of advice. Also, my day to day life is genuinely not all that interesting (not to mention my own narcissistic tendencies do not need any more available ways to manifest themselves outside of Facebook).
Just to get to know me a little better I'll give you a short bio: I am a Christian student attending college in the state of Louisiana. I am almost halfway through my degree here at University, and hope to build Christ’s kingdom by working in the computer field. Although I have a strong interest in computers and other Tech, my hobbies are much wider ranging and often deal with art, ancient weapons and armor, music, and knives. In fact, it is highly probable that these kinds of things will appear on the blog over time.
Okay, enough about me. In the coming weeks I plan to post content regularly and I will try and find some theme for the posts so that they do not become too disjointed. Thanks for reading, and see you next time!
